Rule 3.2 states that when signing up for each class you must write the last 6 digits of the vin number of the machine you will be racing in that class. If there is not a vin number on the machine, then you will receive a band to go on the machine with a number that matches the number on the sign-up form. In the event that an SBS OFFICIAL finds your vin number on your machine, you will be required to pay $150 or forfeit your run.
All classes require OEM production style engine or direct replacement engine.
1 Short Course Class Rules
1.1 NA UTV Class – Naturally aspirated machines only. Must retain Stock OEM ECU, UTV Production Style Engine (can be modified), UTV Production Style Transmission (can be modified), and Stock OEM Frame (may utilize aftermarket roll cage). Polaris Pro R is not allowed in the NA class.
1.2 Turbo UTV Class – UTVs of any make, model, and displacement. Must retain Stock OEM ECU and OEM intercooler, Turbo, UTV Production Style Engine (can be modified), UTV Production Style Transmission (can be modified), and Stock OEM Frame (may utilize aftermarket roll cage).
1.3 Outlaw UTV Class – UTVs of any make, model, and displacement. Must retain UTV Production Style Engine (can be modified) and UTV Production Style Transmission (can be modified).
2 Machine Rules
2.1 Roll cage tied into the frame. If roll cage is damaged or dented and jeopardizes the structural ability of of the cage, SBS officials will determine if the machine is safe to race.
2.2 Production-style UTV powertrains and drivelines only
2.3 Definition of “Production Style”: As produced for and equipped on machines sold by manufacturers and their dealers (OEM), or be produced as a direct replacement for OEM the equipment.
2.4 All machines must retain and utilize production Style ATV / UTV Engine, Transmission, and Differential.
2.5 No Motorcycle, car, or truck engines, transmissions, or differentials allowed.
2.6 Must have manual kill switch that shuts off fuel pump and ignition with one switch, and is easily reached by the driver (this can be the OEM key ignition)
2.7 Must have 1 working fire extinguishers easily reached by the driver
2.8 Vehicles must display entrant numbers on front, both sides, and back of
vehicle. Side facing numbers must be 7” (175mm) tall. Front facing and rear facing numbers must be 6″ tall (150mm) tall. You may be required to change your race number based on signup order.
3 Safety Rules and Regulations
3.1 All drivers must attend the driver’s meeting themselves in-person. No rider representatives are allowed to attend in place of a registered driver.

3.3 – 5pt. Harness is the minimum requirement for seat belts
3.4 – DOT Helmet must be worn (and buckled) at all times on the racing course
3.5 – Hans/neck brace or foam neck braces are required
3.6 – Wrist Restraint or window nets/roof panels are required
3.7 – Fire suit must be worn at all times on the racing course
3.8 – Shatterproof eye protection required
3.9 – Driver must be secure before the machine moves
3.10 Alcohol consumption is not permitted by racers at any time during the racing event until after their final run of the event.
3.11 Alcohol consumption is not permitted by racers in the top 5 positions in the running order until after the awards ceremony is concluded.
3.12 One driver from each class will be chosen at random during the riders meeting for a mandatory breathalyzer test. If any driver during the race is suspected to be under the influence of alcohol, a mandatory breathalyzer test will be administered. During the awards ceremony, one driver from each class within the top 3 finishers will be chosen at random for a mandatory breathalyzer test.
3.13 Failure to submit to a mandatory breathalyzer test will result in the driver’s immediate disqualification from the event.
4 Timing and Scoring
4.1 SBS is not responsible for for scoring vehicles with unrecognizable numbers. It is the vehicle driver’s responsibility to maintain numbers in recognizable condition.
4.2 All vehicles must have a racing number. Side facing numbers must be 7” (175mm) tall. Front facing and rear facing numbers must be 6″ tall (150mm) tall. You may be required to change your race number based on signup order.
4.3 An entrant’s official time shall be the total elapsed time between their assigned starting time and the time they cross the official finish line. If an entrant does not report to the staging area in time to stage in their respective starting position, the entrant will be placed in the rear and will start after the last assigned start time. If an entrant does not report to the staging area in time to start before the last assigned starter leaves the starting line, they shall be judged DNS. In all cases, if the entrant does not start at their assigned time, their time will still start from their assigned starting time, not their actual starting time.
4.4 The winner of the event shall be the entrant that either: finishes the race with the lowest elapsed time, or completes the most laps or greatest distance within the event time limit
5 Course Rules
5.1 When encountering an on-course accident, rollover, breakdown, or disabled
vehicle, all entrants must make reasonable efforts to assess the condition of
the competitors involved. Competitors who are involved in an accident,
rollover, breakdown, or whose vehicle is disabled must make every effort to
signal their condition to passing competitors (e.g. give a thumbs up). If, upon
encountering an on-course accident, rollover, breakdown, or disabled
vehicle, a passing vehicle is unable to determine that the competitors
involved are OK or if there is any doubt as to the status or condition of the
competitors involved, they must inform a race official at the next checkpoint,
5.2 A marked course is that the official route designated by and marked by Southern Bounty Series. All vehicles must follow this route during the event. Course cutting is not permitted and shall result in disqualification. Course cutting is defined as any deviation from the marked course for any reason. All vehicles shall drive in only in the correct direction of the course route. Driving in the opposite direction of the course is prohibited and shall be grounds for penalties of up to and including disqualification and suspension.
6 Other Rules and Regulations
6.1 All rules are final.
6.2 All Southern Bounty Series official’s calls and judgements are final.
6.3 Southern Bounty Series reserves the right to change this rulebook at any time.
